measures the total of all chlorine present in all forms, including dissolved free chlorine, chloramines, hyporchlorous acid and hypochlorite ion. Typical applications include measurements of discharge water from water treatment plants, public drinking water supplies and cooling towers, and measurement of disinfectant properties in swimming pools and cooling water applications Exstik Chlorine Meter CL200 • Direct reading of Total Chlorine provides fast and easy measurements (less than 2 minutes)• Low detection limit down to 0.01ppm• Wide dynamic range of measurement up to 10ppm (use dilution method for 10 to 50ppm)• Unaffected by sample color or turbidity• Automatic electronic calibration• Memory stores, tags and recalls up to 15 readings• Unique flat surface chlorine electrode• Waterproof to IP67 standard• The state of the art LCD simultaneously displays ppm of Total Chlorine and Temperature plus analog bargraph indicator• Complete with meter and flat surface Chlorine electrode, ExTabᆴ reagent tablets (50 tests), protective sensor cap, sample cup with cap, four 3V CR-2032 batteries, and 48" (1.2m) neckstrap The CL200 can be used wherever a measurement of the total chlorinein water is needed. This is also referred to as total residual chlorine. Itmeasures the total of all chlorine present in all forms, includingdissolved free chlorine, chloramines, hyporchlorous acid andhypochlorite ion. Typical applications include measurements ofdischarge water from water treatment plants, public drinking watersupplies and cooling towers, and measurement of disinfectantproperties in swimming pools and cooling water applications. CL200 Front Panel Description The ExStik’sᆴ keys have functions whichᅠchange depending on the electrodeᅠattached (pH, ORP or Chlorine). Keyᅠdescriptions here apply for the ExStikᆴ withᅠa chlorine electrode attached. Battery compartment LCD Display MODE/HOLD button (store data) CAL/RECALL button (change temperature units and recall data. Calibration not required for chlorine) ON/OFF button Electrode Collar Electrode ExStikᆴ CL200 Display Bargraph display Measurement display BAT (low battery) and HOLD (data hold) indicators Temperature display Bargraph scale designations Unit of measure Getting Started Equipment Required A chlorine test requires a 20ml sample cup, a reagent tablet and theᅠCL200 with a chlorine electrode attached.ᅠ Battery Activation An insulating tab is located in the battery compartment and preventsᅠbattery drain during storage. It must be removed before use. Refer to theᅠbattery replacement paragraph in the maintenance section. Measurement Procedure Sample Preparation: Place the test sample into the sampleᅠcup up to the 20mL line. Drop one reagent tablet into theᅠsample, wait 10 seconds and thenᅠshake or stir vigorously until it isᅠdissolved. Measurement: Press the ON button and insert the electrode intoᅠthe sample. Stir the sample with the electrode for 5 to 10ᅠseconds. The “HOLD” indicator will appear afterᅠ120 seconds. Reading: The value in the display is the total chlorine in ppm. Note: After running a test, wipe the entire electrodeᅠwith a clean/dry paper towel. Storing Readings Press the MODE button to store a reading. The storage locationᅠnumber will be displayed followed by the stored reading and theᅠ“HOLD” indicator. Only one reading can be stored during the 120 second measurementᅠcycle. Press the MODE button again to return to normal operation. If more than 15 readings are stored, previously stored readingsᅠ(starting with number 1) will be overwritten. Recalling Stored Readings Press the CAL button and then press the MODE button immediatelyᅠafter CAL is displayed; a location number (1 through 15) will flash. The last stored reading taken will be displayed first. To scroll throughᅠthe stored readings, press the MODE button. The location number is displayed first, followed by the reading stored in that location. To exit the storage mode, press the CAL button and the CL200 willᅠreturn to normal operation. Note: If the batteries are removed all stored readings will be lost. Changing the Temperature Units Press and hold the CAL button for approx. 3 seconds to change theᅠtemperature units. Auto-Power OFF The auto power off feature automatically shuts the CL200 off 10 minutesᅠafter the last keypress. Low Battery Indication When the batteries become weak the “BAT” icon will appear in theᅠdisplay. Refer to the Maintenance section for battery replacementᅠinformation. Considerations and Techniques If the meter has not been used for several weeks or is new, at leastᅠtwo tests should be made to condition the electrode. Do not touch the reagent tablets. Touching can causeᅠcontamination. If the electrode has not been used for in a 24hr period, wipe the tipᅠwith a clean/dry paper towel before use. Before use, wash the sample cups and the caps and then rinse themᅠcompletely. The CL200 should not be left in a solution while turned off. If left inᅠsolution while turned off, subsequent readings may take longer toᅠreach the correct value. Do not touch the sensor surface except with a clean/dry paper towel. When measuring solutions that have large differences in chlorineᅠconcentration, i.e. 0.1ppm and 5.0ppm, use separate sample cups. Discard the sample cup when it shows a color change. Maintain the electrode by completely wiping dry and then replacingᅠthe electrode cover immediately after taking a measurement. Theᅠelectrode should always be stored in the dry cap. Cover the connector with the clear cover whenever the electrode isᅠremoved from the meter body. Gently stirring the probe in the solution for 10 seconds, within theᅠfirst minute of operation, will accelerate the process and yield moreᅠaccurate readings. Do not stir after 10 seconds. The CL200 can also measure ORP and pH. To perform these tests,ᅠthe appropriate electrode must be acquired and connected to theᅠExStikᆴ. When the unit is turned on, it recognizes the type of electrodeᅠthat is connected and displays the appropriate unit of measure. The CL200 Chlorine Electrode arrives in a factory-cleaned condition andᅠis ready to be used. The electrode will perform best and yield moreᅠstable readings after the first few tests. Before and after tests, firmlyᅠwipe the electrode tip with a clean, dry paper towel to remove anyᅠcompounds that may have formed. When not in use, the CL200 shouldᅠbe stored with the electrode cap in place.
